2022 Pioneer Days

Thank you to all who participated and made this year's event such a success!

July 22-23, 2022: Settlers and Soldiers

This year’s theme of “Settlers and Soldiers” is intended to build on the heritage of our greater community.  This past December-January marked the 175th anniversary of the 1846-47 Mormon Battalion march through this valley.

When a small group of families under the direction of Philemon Merrill, a former member of the Mormon Battalion, returned to settle the San Pedro Valley in 1877, they built a small fort for their families and most of them spent the summer of 1878 helping to construct the new Camp Huachuca facility.

We hope the theme will inspire participants to reflect on all aspects of our shared local history and the sacrifices of generations of our veterans.

Events will include the traditional parade, games, pioneer activities, BBQ Beef luncheon, evening vendors, Heritage Quilt drawing, and Grand Finale Fireworks.
